Belmont Beach has a rich history rooted in the heart of Indianapolis's westside community. Originally, it was a recreational area where families and friends gathered to enjoy the river and the natural beauty of the area. Over the years, as urban development expanded and societal shifts occurred, the beach's prominence faded.
However, through the efforts of the Friends of Belmont Beach and community partners, we've been revitalizing this historic space, transforming it into a vibrant hub for connection, culture, and community engagement. Today, Belmont Beach stands as a symbol of resilience and a testament to the power of community-led initiatives.
Belmont Beach serves as a vital gathering place for our community by offering a welcoming environment where people can come together to connect, celebrate, and support one another. Whether through our regular events like the Westside Maker's Market & Movie Night or spontaneous gatherings, Belmont Beach is a space that fosters a strong sense of belonging.
It’s where families bring their children to play, friends meet to catch up, and neighbors come to engage in meaningful conversations. The beach provides a physical space for the community to unify, share experiences, and create lasting memories, reinforcing the bonds that hold us together.
