A team of DIP-IN Steering Committee members attended the Neighborhood USA (NUSA) Conference, May 4-7, in Little Rock, Ark.
Like the name implies, NUSA is a national, nonprofit organization “committed to building and strengthening neighborhood organizations.” Each year, NUSA holds a national conference to bring together those working in neighborhoods across the United States to network and share insights.
DIP-IN Steering Committee members Sonja Buckner-Marion (Northeast), Vickie Driver (Northeast), Alma Trawick (Northeast), and Carolyn Watts (Near Northwest) conducted a panel presentation and discussion titled, “Partnering to reduce the burden of diabetes in our community: The Diabetes Impact Project – Indianapolis Neighborhoods (DIP-IN).”
Mostly consisting of residents from the DIP-IN areas, the group was able to share about DIP-IN and their experiences working on this collective impact project from a community perspective. The panel presentation drew positive feedback and has resulted in some follow-up from several audience members interested in learning more.
We want to give a huge recognition to this group for representing the DIP-IN project at the NUSA conference, as well as the rest of the DIP-IN Steering Committee members who continue to help shape the DIP-IN project through the years.
