On October 13, the Indiana University Indianapolis Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) hosted Harvard faculty member, David R. Williams, one of the leading researchers and experts on the social determinants of health, with a particular focus on racism as the leading determinant of what contributes to health inequity in the United States.

The DIP-IN team from the Fairbanks School of Public Health was excited to hear him speak in person. Much of Dr. Williams’s research informs the foundational principles of DIP-IN and we were energized to see him present his work in person to the IU Indianapolis campus and surrounding communities.
