In the last quarterly newsletter, we featured “Inferno Step with Crys,” led by Crystal Williams and supported by the DIP-IN Near Northwest Steering Committee. The other two DIP-IN steering committees are also elevating organizations/projects in their communities, and we are excited to continue highlighting their work.
In this issue, we want to feature Soul Food Project Indy, an organization founded by Danielle Guerin and supported by the DIP-IN Northeast Steering Committee. Through DIP-IN support, Soul Food Indy spent the spring revamping their garden site on Temple Ave., through greenhouse construction, updated fencing, and planting, as well as adding picnic tables.
These additions will allow the site to serve as a place of not only growing food but also as a community education and gathering space. Through their garden, Soul Food Indy has a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, where individuals can purchase a share of produce to pick up each week from the Soul Food Project Farm.
While they are already a couple weeks into the full 20-week CSA option, interested individuals can still sign up for a partial season. There are payment plans and pricing available for all income levels, so everyone can be a part of the CSA.
To see the pricing options and more details, and to order a box of your own, please visit their Veggie Boxes page. And while you’re there, click through their website to learn more about what they do!
